What is eGFR?

eGFR stands for estimated glomerular filtration rate. This estimates how much blood is filtered by your kidneys each minute. When your kidneys are damaged, they can’t filter as much, and waste can build up in your blood. Certain conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, can damage your kidneys and reduce their ability to remove waste from the body.
